Trash Pickup and Recycling

The Board of Aldermen takes pride in the fact that the City pays for all residential trash, recycling and yard waste pick up as well as bulk and appliance pick-ups. Trash, recyclables, yard waste and other items must be placed curbside for pickup by 8 a.m. If for some reason your collection has been missed please call Gateway Disposal at 314-900-2070 the next morning to report.

Trash Collection Schedule and Bulky Item Pickup

On March 1, 2023, the City of Twin Oaks started a five-year contract with Gateway Disposal for residential waste and recycling collection. Trash and yard waste are collected on Monday. Recycling is collected on Friday. 

Curbside bulky item pickup is provided on the second Monday of the month, and residents can schedule their pickup by calling Gateway Disposal directly at 314-900-2070. Residents are provided one bulky item pickup per month. Additional pickups may be requested for a a charge of $25 per item.

Bulky item pickup is limited to household furnishings, furniture, rugs, carpet (must be bundled 2' x 4'), and other large items that will not fit into trash receptacles, provided that they can be carried to the curb by two people and do not exceed 150 lbs. Items must be scheduled in advance in order to be picked up. 

In addition, residents can also schedule pickup of large household appliances consisting of refrigerators, freezers, clothes washers and dryers, water heaters, trash compactors, dishwashers, microwave ovens, ranges, stoves, wood stoves, and air conditioners that can be easily and safely handled. The collection must be schedule in advance by contacting Gateway Disposal at 314-900-2070.

The trash collection service provided to Twin Oaks residents is for household garbage only. Material such as drywall, shelving, flooring, fencing, wood framing, objects with nails or screws, or other similar material will not be accepted.

Holiday Schedule

Gateway Disposal observes six holidays per year: New Years Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day,  Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

If the holiday falls during the business week and it is before your pick up day, your pick up schedule will fall ONE DAY later for that week. If the holiday is on Saturday or Sunday, the pickup schedule does NOT change.

Collection Guidelines 

  • Yard Waste must be clearly marked in a container or bundled. Tree limbs and similar pruning should be no longer than 4 feet, no greater than 4 inches, and no heavier than 60 lbs. You may use brown paper compost bags.

  • No hazardous materials such as oil, pesticides, insecticides, paint, batteries or tires will be accepted.
