Important Announcement Regarding Trash, Recycling Service in Twin Oaks

New Five-Year Contract Award to Gateway Disposal, Effective March 1

Effective March 1, 2023, the City of Twin Oaks will be ending its current contract with Waste Management for residential waste and recycling collection and starting a new five-year agreement with Gateway Disposal.

The City is working closely with Gateway Disposal to ensure a smooth transition. No changes are planned to the current level of service or pickup days:

  • Trash and yard waste will continue to picked up curbside on Mondays, and recycling on Fridays. Residents of the Birnamwood Condos will continue to put their carts at their garage for trash and recycle. Yard waste and bulky items must be placed curbside.
  • Bulky item pickup will be provided once per month, and residents can schedule their pickup by calling Gateway Disposal directly.
  • Residents may also arrange appliance and other "white good" pickups with Gateway Disposal.

As has been the case, these services will be provided free of charge to Twin Oaks residents. The last recycle pickup for Waste Management will be Friday, February 24, and the last trash pickup will be on Monday, February 27. Gateway Disposal's service will start with the recycling pickup on Friday, March 3.

The City and Gateway Disposal will provide more details and communication in the weeks to come, including more information on cart dropoff/pickup, scheduling bulky item pickups, and acceptable materials for trash, recycling, yard waste and bulky items. For questions, please contact the City office at 636-225-7873.

DELIVERY OF NEW CONTAINERS AND PICK UP OF OLD CONTAINERS
Gateway Disposal will also be providing each resident with two 64-gallon containers, one each for trash and recycling. The new containers will be delivered on Saturday, February 25. Residents who have Waste Management branded carts or containers will need to place those out for pickup by Waste Management following the final trash service. Waste Management will pick up the old containers on Wednesday, March 1. Residents may request additional trash or recycling containers by contacting Gateway Disposal directly.
