April 7th Municipal Election Postponed

Governor Parsons has issued an Executive Order that postpones the April 7, 2020 general municipal election until June 2, 2020. As a result of that order, listed below are important dates that have changed.

•Closing Date for Registration (§ 115.135.1 RSMo.): March 11, 2020

• Minimum Deadline for Filing Declaration of Intent to be Write- In Candidate (§115.453(4) RSMo.): March 27, 2020

• Deadline to Apply to Vote Absentee (§ 115.279 RSMo.): May 20,2020

• Deadline to Test Voting Equipment (§ 115.233 RSMo.): June 1, 2020

• In- Person Absentee Voting: 5:00 P.M. on June 1, 2020

• Date Election Authority Must Receive Absentee Ballots (§ 115.293.1 RSMo.): 7:00 P.M. June 2, 2020

• Certification of Election Results (§§ 115.507,115.508): No sooner than 12 P.M. June 5, 2020, no later than June 16, 2020

• Deadline for Covered Voter to Request Ballot: 5:00 P.M. May 29,2020

• Deadline to Begin Making Ballots Available (§ 115.914 RSMo.): April 18, 2020

•Deadline for Absentee Ballots from Covered Voters Must Be Received: 11:59 A.M. June 5, 2020.

Holdover Offices

Some Aldermen may have terms expiring in April 2020, but, the order states that all officers shall continue to hold office for the term thereof, and until their successors are duly elected or appointed and qualified.

The office of President of the Board of Aldermen, elected to serve a 1-year term per Twin Oaks City Code Section 110.030, will also hold over as Board President until the election.
